All right. Here it goes the account for this Friday onwards. I am sure the introduction could have bored you guys as it is just a reflection of a JC student’s life. Okay, I screwed up my Physics SPA. As in, the teacher said I could not get Level A for this particular experiment already. I would not go into details about that cursed morning. However, I want to thank Chang Long and Xiong Wei for encouragement and understanding. Really, thank you guys! Now, let me skipped the description of a dull day and go straight away to that afternoon, when the lessons were over and the House Committee camp started.
Day 1: It Beat Blitz
I could sense the smell of gun powder. Actually the air raid had already begun. No, it was not the Blitz of Germany during the Second World War. But we were bombarded by the shouts of senior HC members:
“Am I talking to a BLANK WALL?!” “He’s asking a QUESTION!” “You all DUMB arh?” “I see GAPS! Even ELEPHANTS can walk through!” “Do not let me repeat myself like a broken recorder!” “Wipe the smile off your face! Funny is it?” “Do you have a sense of URGENCY?!”
We assembled on the track in front of the Sports Complex. Scolded because of not standardizing everything, and of course, shocked. Even Cheryl seemed unsure about it, as the seniors became seriously scary, and getting more and more dissatisfied about our performances. Finally, they said: “We have no choice, but to punish you all. KNOCK IT DOWN!”
Push ups.
It was followed by short distance running. We were required to run as One. As we failed this attempt, we got “knocked down” a few more times. Later on, we were ordered to shove everything into our bagpacks, ran to the Dance Studio, our dormitory, took out valuables and ran back. We heard a lot of encouragements of our peers. I heard Tiong Wei urged “GUYS, LET’S GO!” It was so urgent that, well, you could really feel as if a war was going on. I started to look for my handphone and wallet. I heard “ADRIAN, WAIT, MY WALLET!” But I could not find mine. The rest of the HC elects had all on half way through the stairs already. The Dance Studio was dark. We could barely manage to see the surroundings in the dim light of the setting sun that was sipping in. Mine? I dig deep into my backpack. SHIT! I could not find it. I balanced pros and cons quickly, and the conclusion is: To the heck of it – ZAO! Thus, Tiong Wei, Adrian and me, the only one who failed to recover my valuables from my bagpack, ran after the crowd of HC elects. And as you could guess, all the elects were “knocked down”.
And this was not the end. There was something even worse. I was thinking whether I should confess to the seniors that I failed to take out my valuables. At last, due to Tiong Wei’s suggestion, I approached to Bryan IC and told him about it while the rest of HC elects were getting together their valuables. When everyone was ready, he announced.
“There is a fellow saying he didn’t bring his valuables. But he’s lucky. Now, I want him to sprint to the Dance Studio, get the stuff and chiong back. In the meantime, the rest of us are in our half-squad position to wait for him.”
For heaven’s sake, this is the worst of all.
However, I sprinted all the way to find my valuables. I scattered everything from my bag onto the floor, and, yes! I was back. Bryan IC permitted me to fall in even before I could ask for permission. And here came the end of the most notable episode of Day 1.
To be continued…
