Day 3 (II): Double Bond (-ing)

Fresh water really made me feel good. It could wash off all those salts and sands. And being dry was wonderful as well.

We had two bonding meals on the last day. The first one was during lunchtime, when the 15th Alpha HC Members and us juniors bought take-aways from opposite school. Tiong Wei and I went to Black Board, which was the furthest away from school. He purchased fried chicken, I took fish n’ chips. When sat there chat with Ashwin and Theen Yew while waiting for food to be ready. Then I bought Ice Kachang (I started eating it when a speaker mentioned that even ang mo-s like to eat it. ) in the hawker centre, where everyone got together and headed back to school.

On our way back, Tiong Wei proposed jokingly to me that we could act emo and eat in a corner so as to prevent our chips being “robbed”. Although this might be lame, but I decided to agree with his proposition. So when everyone else was joining tables in school canteen together, we sat at a single table. Some girls protested, though they knew it was just another joke. I urged my friend to join our table together with the rest. But the chips were still left on the chair unnoticed. But, haha, I knew how the show was going to end, and it meant to end this way, that was, both of us took out the chips and passed around. And this was the finale of our prank of “act good kids, act bad kids”.

After our stomachs were fully filled, we went to the “Starbucks” area near the Scope to have some sharing session, and the seniors read out our comments on each other regarding our strengths and weaknesses. Kaizen got a comment about “flexible, nothing to do with body movement.” In one comment, I was defined as “shy”. All right, I was speechless, LOL. Frankly speaking, I am not shy when I talk to anybody.

The whole afternoon was the process of selection of posts that we were going to run. I was a bit nervous because I was seriously afraid that I got a post of treasurer, again. But I calmed down quickly, because I knew that I had avoided my worst fear from happening. That was, I did not put the post of Vice-Captain (Sports) into any of my two choices. The reason was, I just knew. I just knew what the outcome would be. Just like one of my friends’ experience about competing for Captain position. Fear. And I had avoided it. I did not wish to set my expectation too high. The higher a person’s expectation, the more frustrated the person will be when the outcome is against him. So I lowered my expectation, and I got it, a Sports Captain. And I was happy.

When the camp was closed, we juniors and our seniors went to Tampines Mall for a bonding dinner. Yes, TM again, it could be an Alpha HC Resort already. We debated about the place to eat, and the conclusion was: Swensen’s. Most of us ordered baked rice with fish or chicken. I ordered an extra root bear with float. I had a sip of it. Mmm, it was much better than the root bear I drank last year on our way back from Outward Bound Malaysia in an A&W. I passed it to Trinity to drink and told him that it was “damn good”. He drank, and passed on. Tiong Wei claimed that he was going to have the last sip. But he did not finish all. I emptied the cup. And, oh, I forgot to say, that Theen Yew and Trinity swapped seats. So Theen Yew ended up among the seniors and Trinity ended up among us. Both looked uneasy, and the rest of us burst out laughing. It was really fun. Then Trinity and I played hand wrestling. My goal was not beating him, but to sustain as long as possible. He encouraged me to push myself as well. So I hold there for more than two minutes, and you knew what happened next. Besides that, both of us had red, dumb right hands.

The Captain and Vice-Captains intended to treat us bubble-teas. But since they had already paid the ice cream balls for us, I told them to save it until next time. We bid good-byes to each other outside TM.

Alright, I finally concluded the three-day-long event. But I have not given an account about Titans and Mardi Gras yet. They would be out in two days. Adios amigos.
